Ideas Galore

So Jamie and Marla Winters recently turned me on to my new online obsession. Pinterest.com I have found so many ideas for the house my head is swimming.
I thought I would share a few with you.
Enjoy!!!

I am nowhere NEAR finishing the exterior, but when I do...
New siding color - Gray
New front door color - Yellow
Trim/Accent - White

Ideas for a nice and tidy laundry room/pantry.

Mom desperately wants someone to wallpaper with maps. This might be an accent wall for my guest bath on the first floor. With the a dark painted wood walls or bead board as a base. So please everyone send me your vintage National Geographic magazine pull out maps (we all know they never fold the same way to fit back inside the magazine once you open them)

FIND OF THE WEEK: $40 PEDESTAL SINK!

I found this little beauty for my downstairs guest bathroom at White Farmers/Flea Market. The one new at Lowe's was $96.

I am obsessed with painted wood floors to. Some of the wood in the new house is not great...but I hate to put carpet over it. This is what I am thinking....maybe a stencil border? This is the hallway that will lead to the master bedroom upstairs.
The plastic squares to the right came from the garage door as decoration in the windows. HOW COOL would it be if I could use this as stencils to make the painted border on my floor?!?!?
Maybe this painted "runner" to go up the stairs?
I'm also loving sliding doors.

There is not a ton of counter space in the kitchen. How about I find a great dresser, put wheels, hooks and paint on it and call it a kitchen island with storage!
I like the idea to the right for the right side of my mudroom.

With some help from Adobe Photoshop I did a idea board for my guest bathroom.

Storage - Cabinet from kitchen that needs to move to make room for full size fridge
Flooring - Ceramic tile
Walls Bottom - Bead board or wood trim detail in a dark color - something pulled from maps
Walls Top -  Light bright creme or white
Tub - Metal original to house
Toilet - Original to house
Sink - Pedestal - $40 Flea Market Find!
TBD - Fixtures, Door, Hardware

More ideas to come....in the mean time send me your maps for my bathroom accent wall! If anyone wants the link to the DIY or articles to go with the pictures let me know.

Small project progress...

Hello everyone, sorry long time no blog! The house is coming along a little slow right now. Dad is at air force duty in New Mexico. When he gets back we will start full swing in the upstairs renovation. Until then here are a few ideas and things I have been working on.

The upstairs is finally 100% gutted. Mom and I did the last bit a few weeks ago.

I bleached all the walls downstairs in preparation for primer.
They went from a lovely tan to nearly white.
I bought $20 worth of cleaning supplies at the dollar store. The checkout lady said it looked liked I was going to have fun, I told her it was a party! I invited her and she turned me down.

I stripped off the layers of wallpaper above the kitchen cabinets. This is one of the patterns. Thank goodness this small area is the only place in the house with wallpaper!!!
Nice thin skim coat of joint compound to smooth out the walls where I had to dig at wallpaper.
This is post second skim coat. I think I got this down pat!

The basement was power washed by Ryan, Taff, and Dan. Then Ross and Co. Sprayed the walls and floor. This actually looks like livable space now! Here are some oh so shocking before and afters!

Last but not least all the interior walls downstairs (except office) were spray primed by Ross and Co. It doesn't smell anymore thanks to 2 coats of Zinzer 123!!!
