Lots of Demo!

In the last few weeks more demo has taken space on Spencer Street. Me + 4 Demo Divas ( My mom, Melissa, Marla, and Amanda) took out trim, tack strips, and a bathroom. My dad and I re-framed windows. The most exciting...actually put something new in the house! Wood and nails! I feel like we are building something now not just ripping it apart. Two more big demo projects are in my future: Finish upstairs and basement garage.
Here are some pictures of recent work days.

Here is the guest bathroom. Only the tub and toilet will stay. The tub is metal and just need a good cleanup. This will save us a little money! Yay!
Marla, "Sledgie the sledgehammer", and I took out the corner cabinet. We will be replacing it with a section of kitchen cabinet that need to come out to make room for the fridge.
The sink, floor, plastic shower walls, bead board are gone. Just need to re-frame window.

Where the new pedestal sink will go. New fixtures and mirror.
Cool metal tub. Needs a good scrubbing!
Here you can see my lovely helpers pulling up some tack strips. As much as I would love to see the carpet go...its currently acting as a great drop cloth. It will be one of the last things to go.
Amanda - small and sweet - fits well in closets. She did great!
Guest bedroom minus trim and tack strips.

First trailer of something going INTO the house! I liked the teal painted ends of the lumber.

Here is the bathroom with newly framed rough opening for the obscured glass slider.

Here is the step by step on the double size master bedroom window. The room looks HUGE now. I am tempted to not use it as a bedroom.

Not a bad view out the back, just a sea of green.

Here is the office. The 3 regular windows that did not match up with the rest of the front of the house are replaced by a large slider similar to the bathroom. I forgot to take a final result picture...will do tonight.

Neon faux walls = great sketch pad.

If your a good little worker...this greets you at dinner.
Yum. I could not finish the quart...but did my best.

The guts...

Hi All! Sorry so long since last post. Let's get to the GUTS.
Here are ALL the interior pictures!

Living /Dining Room
This room needs alot of grooming. From this view you are looking out to the front of the house. All the trim, carpet, windows, ceiling fans and the exterior door to the right will be gone.
The door will become a window. The double glass door you see in the center was as one point a door to front porch. They enclosed this space into a cold, useless cement floor room...more on that later. The double door will be opened to make a grand entry into the dining area under the ceiling fan. The wall to the left will be taken out. This stairway leads to the master bed/bath upstairs. This will allow light and circulation to the petite kitchen.
This view is standing in the opposite direction in the same room. The first ceiling fan is the dining area. Unfortunately the fireplace can not be saved. It will come out and be replaced by a french or double door to have access to the nice view. This will eliminate the need for the exterior door to the left.

Guest Bedroom
BORING huh! Say goodbye to the wall color, trim, windows and carpet!
This room does have a nice closet to the left.

1st Floor Full Bath

One word for you GROSS. Say goodbye to ALLL of it except toilet and cool metal tub (I'm going to attempt to revive!)

Old Porch Now Enclosed - New Laundry, Pantry & Mudroom
This side in the mud room and entry way.
Cool built in cubbies, hooks and storage galore to come
This side will be the laundry and pantry room...once I put a wall up! The good news is we don't have to replace the windows or floors in this room. Just the lighting.

Office Space
I know I know we are all sad to see the paint color go....but it IS. Bye Bye trim, windows, floor and WALL COLOR!!

SAVED THE BEST FOR LAST......

Petite Caramel Kitchen
Love the Kitchen cabinets! The color great. The hardware great. The RETRO hood cover...GREAT and it matched my Juice-O-Mat!!! New counters, back splash, light, appliances, windows, sink and floors to be done. Basically everything!

This Wall is facing the dining area will soon be gone.

Stay tuned for Demo Day 3 with special guests 4 Demo Divas!

Post Demo Day 2

Dad and I got a lot accomplished yesterday! The entire upstairs is stripped. We took off paneling, carpet and ceiling tiles! Take a look.
This is facing the north wall.
The middle section is where the closet I tore down on Wednesday was.

 Bye-Bye  paneling and ceiling tiles!!!

Blue stinky carpet or wood floors....hmm.

Almost done on this side...carpet left to pull up.

East Wall
 Much, much, MUCH better!
To the right of the window is where the new bathroom and closet will go.

West Wall
This is where the bed, dresser etc will go.

Stay tuned...on today's agenda: planning master bath and closet.

This is my $10 vintage "Juice-O-Mat" I recently purchased at Whites Farm. I plan on repainting this little beauty and using it for a long time.
Side note: If you have NEVER had FRESH SQUEEZED ORANGE JUICE save us all some trouble, drop what you are doing and go get/make some immediately.
Your brain will literally work 10x faster.
Nothing ever good came out of a 'concentrate carton'.
You can thank me later :-)

Post Demo Day 1

Yesterday I did demo on the upstairs which will become the master bedroom, bath and closet.
Here are some pictures start to finish...
WATER & APPLE = necessity
Baby wipes to get the crud off my face and away from my eyes.
You will notice no safety glasses - NO GO, but the nice Vectren Gas man who was very interested in my project gave me his. Something like this would never have happened in Maryland.
Did not need the plyers...brought them just in case.

Here are photos start to almost finish.

Today's project: WITH the assistance of Alan Baker & Julie Baker (YAY!)
Finish cleanup of yesterdays scraps
Take out off all trim
Take off remaining wood panelling
Take down tile ceiling
Take out carpet and nails from floor

More photos to come..........

First Whole House Renovation!

The new Schilling residence in Rushville, Indiana is a project. I hope to use this blog to update out of town friends and family. Every surface needs touched (that's what $29,000 will get you). We closed on June 30th. Since then we have done many walks around the inside bouncing ideas of each other. Last night my parents and the Winters did a thorough look at each room and made a game plan. I went today and took some photos of all the rooms and measured the exterior and interior.
