Moving Down!

Now that the master is 99.99% complete (Carpet & furniture included!!!) dad and I have moved our efforts to the kitchen/living room area.
We opened up entryway from the kitchen to living room.

We trimmed it & filled in areas with the salvaged wood from stairway.

Mom and I removed the old exterior door between the dining room and the mud room. It will be trimmed to mimic the other large opening.

Dad, mom and I put down tile in the kitchen, stair, and basement landings.
Dad - Glue down your backer board and leave something for the archiologists.

Dad and I picked up 525 feet of unfinished hickory to put down in the living / dining room.

We have had electricians and drywall guys in to help speed up the work so dad and I can lay tile. Stay tuned for blogs to come quicker as we get close to move in day!

Master Suite......so close you can taste it.

Dad and I have been busy little bees getting the upstairs to near completion. Here are a few sneak peeks of the upstairs, as for the whole picture you will just have to wait for the final reveal! I will be posting the original space picture with the final result. For now here are a few teasers.

These fixtures were purchased on sale at Menards for $79. They are modern with a little bit of classic, pretty much exactly what I'm going for!

Glass tile galore!

This super heavy handrail was found on Craigslist (by mom)  at a salvage and reclaim store near Martinsville, In. It was salvaged when the Shelbyville casinos were renovated. We purchased 11 feet of it for $80. There was enough for this section in the master suite and to the left of our new stair landing downstairs.

Tile Tile and MORE Tile (and a hot water heater)

One necessity that needed to be updated was a hot water heater...kinda important. Call me spoiled, but this girls likes a hot shower. Dad and I picked up this little gem and installed it next to our new water manifold.

Another big project that was time consuming, but had GORGEOUS results was the master bathroom tile. Ill give you a few sneak peeks!

Small tiles around the shower that gave me some mad grouting skills.

Master bathroom floor tiles with fresh mortar.

We love an interesting thresh hold. You can see the opening for my little pocket door on the right.

Tiny glass tiles as a back splash above the vanity.

Stay tuned! I hope today I will be able to post a few more sneak peeks of things like : lights, trim, wall color, and my craigslist vanity bargain....
